Dental
Technology Services was established in 1943 by
Wm R. Littlejohn. This family company is now owned
and run by Alex and his three sons Sandy, Laurie
and Graham who are now driving this energetic
and expanding business. Sandy and Laurie are technical
directors managing separate departments. Graham,
a graduate in Medical Microbiology, is involved
in the administration and research departments.
In 1995 DTS became the first dental laboratory
in Europe to be accredited with the ISO 9001 quality
system. This was granted by the Prestigious Det
Norsk Veritas certification body and encompasses
a unique diagnostic design and treatment planning
service.
The main laboratory is based in the East end of
Glasgow in 3 sectors of a Victorian terrace. Internally
it has been extensively modernised and now extends
on 3 floors to more than 10,000 square feet. The
laboratory also includes a fully operational surgery.
This is used by DTS customers bringing patients
in for pre completion trials of bridgework where
the technician, surgeon and patient can finalise
the desired cosmetic appearance. The surgery is
also used for small seminars and ‘Hands
On’ courses.

A
larger seminar suite is available for lectures and
seminars. This also serves as the training room
for in house training procedures.
An existing daily delivery network is in operation
in all the main areas of Scotland. The laboratories
export department also services customers in Scandinavia
and Europe where 4 distribution networks have been
in operation for 20 years. Most manufacturing is
completed in Scotland with work returned by International
couriers (currently DHL). All materials used in
the laboratory are NIOM or CE approved. Details
of all materials are available on request together
with their specifications.
As new techniques are accessed and evaluated regular
seminars and workshops are held throughout the country
to give our customers an opportunity to incorporate
the latest techniques in modern dentistry into their
treatment plans.
In September 2004 DTS established the first Lava™
Milling Centre in the UK in Glasgow. In November
2005 a second Milling Centre was set up in the London
area to service the south of England.
Lava™ has the equivalent strength of metal
with huge aesthetic and technical advantage. These
are transforming the high level treatment plans
in many practices. The increase is patient satisfaction
self generating new business in these practices.
Clinical and Research information on Lava™
is available on request.
DTS welcomes visits to its laboratory and Lava™
Milling Centres by customers and their staff. We
will continue to access innovative products and
restorations to help our customers at the forefront
of modern dentistry, always providing a personal
service. |
