Dentures
There are now many techniques and tooth options available to create natural looking complete and partial dentures.
The designs and impression techniques that can be used to maximise retention have been addressed in modern prosthetics. Where natural retention is poor implants are being increasing used to make dentures functional. DTS has one of the largest prosthetic departments in the UK and services everything from standard health service partial and full dentures to complex implant retained dentures and attachment cases.
The teeth
Modern high quality teeth are fabricated in layers with various inclusions of characteristics, translucency and opalescence. All these effects give a stubble response to changing light conditions to achieve remarkable lifelike appearance.
DTS offers many different quality of teeth ranging from our Hearaus basic health service tooth to Ivoclar Vivadent porcelain teeth.
Prosthetic options
- Health service standard - constructed with standard acrylic and Hearaus basic teeth.
- Premier - as standard with a selection of mid range teeth to choose
- Executive - as standard with a selection of top range teeth to choose
- Executive Plus - high impact acrylic, a selection of top range teeth and colour tone gum matching.
Replablock technique
DTS pioneered the replablock technique for duplicate dentures into the commercial laboratory. This technique is widely used within DTS and is renowned for producing replacement denture with a high level of patient acceptance. DTS regularly holds seminars on this technique with the inventor Professor Yem of Dundee university and dental School. Fact sheets are also available.
Matching the gingival tissue
For many years only a variety of pink, pink veined and translucent acrylics were available as base materials, however now with new techniques in our executive dentures we can create a new dimension to the fabrication of high quality dentures using colour toning technology. Our system can create a natural matching appearance to the patient’s own gingivae. This enhances the whole cosmetic appearance of the prosthesis. These effects are created by building layers of intense colours on the labial surfaces of the stone in which the wax trial has been invested. When these layers have stabilized the base acrylic is injected into the flask.
